Default Quick cooking question about exp dates

I need to know pretty soon since its for dinner tonight!
The only can of cream of chicken I have has a date of April 2005. Is it ok to use or is this way to far past the date? I need it for a crockpot recipe.
    Any answers?
    Thanks!

I wouldn't, but I'm a stickler for expiry dates for some reason.

If it was April 2006, I would use it. But not 2005.

    I would toss it.

Me too. I would toss it. And I use stuff well past expiration.

If it is going to be boiled/simmered for a long time, I'd probably go ahead and use it, esp if I'm deperate and it's the last thing in the house and I can't get out for more. I've used expired stuff if it requires boiling. Maybe you lose some taste, but it's been ok.

But stuff that is ready to eat past its date, etc, I'd throw out.
