Default Car seat involve in accident

We have an Honday Odyssey 2006 that was involved in an accident on 2006. The baby was not in the car, but we got hit in the back in the freeway and pushed into the car in front and they had to tow the car. There was no frame damage, but they had to fix the back and front of the car, but we were ok.

Now that I am reading more about this they all recommend not using a car seat that has been involved in an accident, but I am not sure if it applies to the severity of the accident, or if it only applies if the impact touched the car seat. Now I am worried.

Please let me know if you have any insight into this.

    Thanks,

    Monica

A good first step might be to put this question to your insurance company and the manufacturer of the carseat.

It depends on whether there was structural damage or not. When I got rear-ended (by a police car!) in 2004, my insurance company and Britax told me that I didn't need to replace the seat unless the car had structural damage.
