    Default Regent or Monterey?

    Hi,
My DS (will be 6 in April, 47 inches, 46 lb) has outgrown his Marathon. I am torn between the Monterey and the Regent. Love the idea of harnessing longer--of course, he wants to use the seatbelt like the "big kids." We do a fair bit of highway travel on weekends . . . . do I get him the seat he wants or go for the REgent (how long will he realistically be in the Regent?)?

FYI--my DD is 3 1/2 and in a Marathon, also.

    Thanks for any advice!!!

Well Regent is good for 80lbs and/0r 53 inches tall which ever comes first.

Here is some info I found awhile back on researching how much the average child grows and weighs as they get older:

Your child should gain about 5 1/2 to 7 pounds each year. Girls have a growth spurt between ages 9 and 10 and boys usually catch up by age 13 or 14.

Your child should grow in height about 2 to 2½ inches each year. Your child's long bones (the ones in his legs and arms) slowly get longer.

So if this is realistic your child could possibly be in a Regent for at least 2 years?

    Article facts came from:

Another good article that shows a chart:

If you have LATCH...I'd personally go with the Monterey...
Ok, check out this first video of the Romer Kidfix http://www.oeamtc.at/videobox/index....movie_kind=swf

It's very similar to the Monterey...see how well it holds that dummy in place in frontal and side crashes? And none of the installation woes associated with the Regent...

Anyway, I'm a bit out of love with the Regent lately, honestly...if you feel that really harnessing a lot longer is the best choice for you, then it's really a nice seat (but I"m so looking forward to the Frontier, which harnesses to 80, booster to 100, that I'm not singing the Regent praises so much lately, lol)

Probably not for a couple months. And I think 53 is really a low-ball estimate on Britaxes part for the Regent... my 55 inch 10 yo still fits (at 65 pounds)...he's leggy, but 53 inches is pretty short for those mega top slots...
