    Default Convertible Car Seat

We bought a Britax Marathon for my car, but we need 3 additional convertible car seats (for my husband, my mom, and my husband's mom). What is a car seat similar to the Marathon in terms of safety, but cheaper in cost? The 3 additional car seats will be for occasional use only. Thanks.

Marathons are on sale as low as $135 at Target right now...might be worth a check. But also the Safety 1st Avenue http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_04988092000P is a really nice basic convertible that installs well in most cars and is easy enough to use properly...and has really nice tall top slots...it should easily fit a kiddo rearfacing till about age 2 and then forward facing till at least age 4. The Cosco Scenera is a super-duper budget choice at about $50, but it doesn't have EPP foam for head protection and the slots are about an inch lower, so it won't last as long.
