Default Possible to find a Bumbo for less than $60?

I discovered this weekend that I can buy a Bumbo seat in Bangkok, only they're imported thus priced at $122. So ... I thinking that maybe it was possible to have my folks ship one from Canada for less. Then I saw that BRU/TRU has them listed for $59.99 on their website, and kind of wonder just how much of a cost-savings there would be LOL!

I'd be looking for a brand new one - I don't think that I could convince my parents to stalk Craigslist for me!

We paid $35 at Target. Amazon and Target now have them for about $40.

I know! I wish that Target or Amazon would send one to Canada, but both places don't offer shipping outside of the US. Boo. Sometimes things cost a lot more in Canada, and I can't always figure out why!

I've seen them go on sale at TRU for $45 every once in awhile (although i'm sure there's none in stock when that happens - grrrrrr).

If it's any consolation I, personally, found them totally overrated! Sure, I could plop them in one but then they just sat there bored and couldn't reach anything because they were up off the ground. For me they were a major waste of cash (although some people really like them). Just hoping that makes you feel a bit better!

I was hoping to find one second-hand for that very reason, actually. I've been scoping all of the "for sale" ads in my ex-pat community here in Thailand for my entire pregnancy, which basically means for the whole of 2008 thus far! No one who has one is parting with it yet, or else they're spoken for pretty quickly!

Thanks for the link, Melaine - I'm off to take a peek ...

Bumbos seem to be a love it or hate it item....we LOVED ours. One of my top favorite items, but we had teeny preemies and I think that was part of the reason we loved them, they actually got a really long use.

At our last consignment sale there were 15 Bumbo's....most in very good condition..my friend sold hers and she reported it had a very limited life span...I don't know that I'd invest too much in one...I haven't heard too many people say it was a must have like other things....but if they're that expensive it might have good resale over there...

We got ours for around $50 at a boutique kid's store here in Mtl. While I think the concept of the Bumbo is great, DS is just a very active kiddo, and we didn't use it for very long. If it didn't cost more to ship than buying it new retail, I'd ship you ours

If you want to buy it in Canada, I did some searches back when I was looking and found it at TJ's, Kiddieproofers or is that Babyproofing?, and a few other boutique-y online places. I'll try to hunt up the link for Bumbo Canada. Here: http://www.bumbo.ca/our_retailers.htm Some of the places occasionally had sales, but this was outweighed by shipping, which is why I just bought it at a B&M store. Funny how it so much where you are, since they come from South Africa. I'm guessing there's not much of a market in SE Asia though.

*Sometimes* you can find Amazon storefronts that will ship to Canada. But BRU won't accept a non-US credit card (even thru Google checkout) and Target won't ship to Canada.
