    Default Bouncy Baby?

DD is 5 mos. old and EBF. She has nursed sitting astride my leg, facing me since she was 6 weeks old when she was in a pavlik harness. She's been out of the harness since Thanksgiving, but refuses to nurse in any other position.

The last few days, for the first ten minutes or so of a nursing session, she either has to flail her outside arm, hitting repeatedly whatever is close by, or me (she looks like a rodeo rider!) OR she bops and bounces her self up and down. Pushes off with her feet and bobs up and down, remaining latched the whole time.

Any ideas why? She is a fairly squirmy baby and rarely naps...I am wondering if it is just a way to entertain herself?

Lately, mine does something similar. She waves her arms rhymically, which doesn't bother me as much as her popping off my breast 5-6 times. I guess it's normal??

Well, if it's not normal, at least there's two of us! Glad to hear it!

Well, now I get hit a lot when he is nursing during the day. It's like you can tell he wants to be in constant motion and the nursing is holding him up (but he really wants to be nursing). It's better than the pinching my friend went through.

I went through pinching and scratching for several weeks and it was replaced by this new hitting and bouncing. I agree...it's like she just has to be doing something. Like she is practicing her developmental milestones on me. When she was gaining neck control. she used to roll her head to one side or the other...like an alligator rolling it's prey.

I guess I was worried the bouncing was b/c she was sitting on me...glad all of this seems normal

eta: also, sometimes she pounds her fist on my upper breast, as if to say "Send down the milk!"
