Default Am I crazy? Question about Thomas train sets

My son is turning two in the next week. We have not really focused or introduced him to any Thomas media. But he absolutely loves trains. He has played with Thomas train sets in stores and at places like his haircut shop, which has the Roundhouse set. Did I mention he really, really loves trains?

So we're thinking of starting him on a wooden train set. Given the popularity of Thomas, we figured we might as well start with Thomas. Should we start with just a few smaller sets or should we just go ahead and get one of the really large sets like the Roundhouse set or the Lift and Load Set? I'm guessing is that there are still plenty of other pieces not included in either set, so we shouldn't have issues of "running out." But is it crazy to jump into either of these two sets?

Thanks. He does seem to really like them, but I know what you're saying. Some of the willingness to buy a big set now is that I always wanted one when I was a kid.
