Default Front facing - Pikkolo vs. Beco

How long do babies like to be front facing in a carrier? I am deciding between Pikkolo and Beco. Our 3.5 month old baby loves to take it all in so I lie the front facing of the pikkolo, but I heard that the Beco is much better for when you want to put the baby on your back. I am not against getting a Pikkolo now and Beco later if she will be front facing for a while.

I don't know whether the Beco is much better than the Pikkolo... but both carriers are great for front facing. I think you'll be happy either way.

I went with the Pikkolo because the weight limit on the Beco is much lower.

It is recommended that you stop putting the baby facing front at about 20lbs since it causes stress on your back. However, my husband still puts our daughter facing front (she's a year old now) for short periods of time since she loves it a lot. I guess as long as you can still take it, it's fine?

Oh yeah! You're right! The Beco doesn't do forward facing... It was the Maximom that I was trying to decide with the Pikkolo.

MaxiMom is one carrier that you can use with twins and triplets.

I am confused...I was reading the Baby Bargains book and it indicated that the Beco can be used forward facing unlike the Ergo..So, I was looking into getting the Beco.

I emailed Beco and this is their reply:

"No, the Beco is not meant to carry a baby facing out. The height and width of the body are not suited to carry a baby facing away from it's mom."

Yep, Beco can't do forward facing. Pikkolo is great for it! Some kids really love to look out, but others don't need to, or are happy with a hip carry. I don't see too many people doing facing out carry past 7-8 months, tops.
