    We used a Supergate IV (mounted, of course) for our deck and it worked great for many years, being left out year-round in our CO weather.

    It isn't black but it's possible you could paint/stain it if you really wanted to. When our deck was stained (with an opaque stain), the guy put the stain over the attached hardware from the Supergate and it then blended right in with the rest of the wood.

    We're finally getting ready to do the deck and our guy is going to make a gate to go with the rest of the deck--cedar with metal rods on the inside. Neighbors have this as well I just noticed and it looks pretty good. Will have him put the latch on the outside.
