Do I need a mattress pad if I'm going to use the ultimate crib sheet? I hear that the mattress pad makes the crib more comfy but is that too many layers?

We use a mattress pad. I think it's *technically* too many layers but it's not at all squishy and DD has been sleeping like this for 10 mos.

We use one. There's always a chance you don't want to go through with installing the new UCS if there's a "reason" to change it during the night. We've also put the baby right on the sheet (and needed a mattress pad below) when there have been multiple urps during the night and we haven't gotten the first one or two out of the laundry yet.
