    Smile Gown Preservation

My mother's "preserved" gown was a discolored wreck, so I followed the advice from the Fields book about washing my gown in the washing machine..... magic! I just turned it inside out and washed it on a gentle cycle then air dried it in a drying rack. I stored my gown and veil in a plastic tote that's out of the light, though I need to do some textile research to make sure that's the best thing for it. I didn't trust a dry cleaner because the color may have changed; because they re-use their cleaning fluid the gown could have come back a butter cream color.
