Default Yummy lemon chicken crock pot recipe

I made this today and it was a hit (and so easy)

    http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2008...ot-recipe.html

I browned the chicken (I just sliced each breast into 4 strips), cooked it on high for 4 hours and it was a *tad* dry so next time I will only cook it for 3 hours. I imagine using orange juice concentrate would be delicious as would substituting pork if desired.

Kind of like sweet/sour chicken..the flavor is wonderful! We served it over rice with sugar snap peas on the side.

I've needed some suggestions for dinner, and your post has helped me! I usually make lemon chicken in the oven, but if I put it in the crockpot instead, I could do all of the messy work earlier in the day. Guess I'll be going to the grocery store tomorrow!

This would be a great Friday meal for us ... once I can handle raw chicken, that is. (Right now, it makes me ill.)

Ooh, and I wonder if I could substitute tomato paste instead of ketchup ... sometimes ketchup agrees with me, other times, not so much.

Sounds so yummy! I'm a crockpot newbie. Does anyone know if I need to make modifications if I use frozen Tyson Breaded CHicken tenders? I plan to put them in frozen.

Well..since they are fully cooked (aren't they?) I would say bake the tenders in the oven and make the sauce in the crock (only cook it for about three hours max) and put it over the tenders after you cook them. Putting already cooked chicken into the crock pot isn't such a good plan IMO and I can foresee the breading just flaking off making a mess.

Would be like crispy sweet/sour chicken...sounds good!

I guess I should have specified that the tyson breaded tenders are not precooked.

    I'll get some fresh chicken.

    Smile Really yummy

Thanks again OP for posting. I made this today in my "big" crockpot. I bought 4 breasts and it was over 2lb of chicken. So when I put in the sauce it didn't cover the chicken, so I doubled the sauce. The chicken was cooked at 2 hours on high. I left it on keep warm for a bit and probably shouldn't have. Next time I'll cook it on low. The kids liked the sauce more than anything else.

Glad you liked it! Sometimes you have to tweak crock pot recipes but in the end they are often very worth it. I am making this Tuesday with orange juice.
