New Infant Insert on Ergo - Better? No?

I have an Ergo carrier that we use for oldest daughter (who is now 20 months) and am considering getting the new infant insert for our second baby due in April. I never liked the original "burrito" style infant insert when my oldest was a baby so I rarely used the carrier until she could go w/o an insert. Anyone used the new insert and have some opinions to offer?

I don't have a newborn anymore but checked out the infant insert at our babywearing group here. It does seem better since you can hold baby upright. But it's still super bulky. I'd much rather do a carrier meant for infants like the Beco or Pikkolo (love them both for different reasons) or a pouch like my lovely fleece one.
