Default How long should my child ride rear facing? What about ages for other seats?

Here's an even newer blog with all the AAP recommendations from 2011... http://carseatblog.com/9416/confused...ns-start-here/

This is a great article in carseatblog with all kinds of links showing why it's safer to rear face long beyond the bare minimum of age 1 and at least 20 pounds.

Here's a chart for how long a child should ride in a seat of each type (.pdf) http://www.carseat.org/Resources/651_Basic.pdf

How long in a booster? http://carseatblog.com/?p=3966 Discusses the oft-mentioned Five Step Test for seatbelt readiness.

What if my car doesn't have head restraints? Do I still need a booster for whiplash protection? Yep, Britax Frontier/85 is by far the tallest out there, check this out, even though the car does have headrests... http://carseatblog.com/?p=5671
