We have the simple Oster one you can get at Target, etc. It's not real pricy ($20-30 IIRC) and it works great.

I had one years ago and it held up OK, but can't for the life of me remember what brand it was!
Recently, a stainless steel model caught my eye because it was in the Macy's circular, but I'm not in any position to be buying gadgets right now.
My one suggestion is to choose a metal (stainless) casing over a plastic one to reduce the chances of staining and/or odor (flavor) absorbtion into the immersed portion of the blender.

I have a Cuisinart Smart Stick and I've been very happy with it. The part that immerses comes off and is dishwasher safe, which makes cleaning really, really easy.

I love our Cuisinart with a food processor and whisk attachment. I use the blender attachment to make smoothies almost every day.
