First teeth on top?

DD is nearly 14 months old and we thought she had no teeth. She was at the Dr today because she has a cough and she was laying down and he noticed she does have one tooth poking through and 3 more almost through...but they are all on top! MIL has been so busy looking at her bottom gum that she didn't even look too close at the top. (she said this made her feel dumb that the Dr. had to point it out. I told her I thought the same thing so we'll be dumb together!)
I thought the bottom ones generally come in first? Maybe my DD is just unique!
Anyone else's DC have their first teeth on top?

I think teeth can come in any order. It is more common for the bottom front teeth to break through first, but there is no rule that says it has to happen that way.

Don't feel bad; keeping track of DC's teeth is not as easy as it seems it should be.

My son got the middle lower, then two at the top........ but the incisors. He was a vampire baby until the middle tops came in. I did ask my daughter's dentist about it and she said "no worries". There's no right way for them to come in.

my oldest 2 got their top front teeth first.

DS2 got one on the bottom and then one on the top...for the longest time. He looked so funny!

DS2 got his two top teeth before his bottom teeth came in...and he had no teeth until 13 months (we were still nursing, so this was just fine with me).

Mine always get their bottom teeth first.

Mine all got their top two teeth in first. I have read that teeth can come in any order and be early/ late and it doesn't mean a darn thing.

Yep, DD has 4 on top and 1 on the bottom. The bottom one was her 4th tooth.

DS also got a top tooth before getting a bottom tooth.
