Default Sloppy Joes in the slow cooker

Do I have to brown the beef first? I'm just using canned manwich sauce.
    Thanks

I'm not sure what meat technically makes up a sloppy joe, but we use stew meat, and I don't brown it. Just put it in the crock pot, cover with water, drain when ready, add sauce and stir til the meat breaks up. Yum!!!!

I do, otherwise you'll have really greasy Sloppy Joes!! DH loves them in the crock pot with hot dogs cooked in there too.

    lovin--I'm using ground beef

ohiomom--can I brown it the night before and then throw it in the slow cooker in the morning?
