I searched to see if this has been addressed, but can't find anything, which I find hard to believe... that I'm the first to ask about this...
My son just turned 4 and until now has been wearing a harness on his bus rides to school. The harness clipped to belts on the bus in 4 places... over each shoulder and at each hip. Now the bus company says he doesn't need it. That "he's old enough to stay in his seat for the ride." They have a lap belt for him and they say the state doesn't even require that!
Yesterday I sent him in the harness and he came home without it... they should have asked me first!
My pediatrician said he should wear the harness as long as he fits into it.
So, what's the real story? Is a lap belt all he needs? I know he'll stay in his seat, but what if there's an accident??
