Default Have you heard of Monell's Teething Cordial?

Also known as Cordial de Monell. It's apparently used as a teething remedy but is illegal in this country. I actually just discovered a friend of mine was using it on her baby and I'm stunned. Reading a description of the active ingredient (potassium bromide) has me scratching my head that someone would think giving this to a baby is a good idea.

With all the other teething remedies out on the market I am surprised someone would use that.

Oh, I know it's recalled. I'm shocked too that someone would use it. This is a good friend of mine and I am trying not to go ballistic about it. She has said she is not going to use it anymore, but that recall info has been out there a long time now. And how exactly does the FDA do a recall on a product that isn't even approved to sell in the US? I'm glad they did, but I'm confused.
