    Default Bento Style lunch boxes

    Hi all,

I am planning to order a bento style lunch box for my son who will be eating lunch next year at school in First grade. Are the Laptop lunches the gold standard? Are there others, and what are the quality?

Any deals on the Laptop lunches boxes out there?

    Thanks!

if you have a DAISO near you (Japanese equivalent of a Dollar Store, but stuff is waay better quality IMO), they usually have a lot of cheap ones there. I have a few just cuz I thought they were so darn cute. i think they were like $1.50 each. maybe not as great quality as the others but still good IMO

a lot of the ones at Daiso were the rectangular-ish ones, like at the bottom of this page (but plain, without the little characters..so not too girly or anything ). they came with kiddie chopsticks too.

There is a lot of great information about different bento type lunch boxes on this blog:

She uses a Sassy set and Lock & Lock sandwhich containers a lot. I know she's tried the Goodbyns and a few others, too.

Those are cute and they are on sale at ReusableBags. However, the reviews didn't look very good IIRC. http://www.reusablebags.com/store/go...ch-p-1974.html

Yes, I read some reviews at Amazon and it says that the kids have trouble opening them, and that it is really tough to close them properly. Bummer! I was sold until I read that.

I got a bunch of cute stuff when ichiban kan still had still had their website up. However, to be quite honest, all you need is one of those snap lock containers if you want to do a bento style lunch. They have a good seal and are easy for kids to open and close up. Some ppl really love the laptop lunches and some don't like them and say that it's more appropriate for littler kids, but not big enough for older kids.

www.lunchinabox.net is a really good bento site.
