Default what do u do when you cook/bake something..

..and it comes out tasting awful?? Do you throw it all out? Or do u just choke it down?

I just spent an hour preparing a chicken bake recipe, got the exact ingredients in the exact amounts (even had to drag DS to the grocery store to get everything, and scrambled to put everything together while the poor teething babe was fussing in his crib)..and it tastes awful..chicken is tough & chewy..yuck.

i am not the greatest cook and things like this has happened before but the good thing is that my DH will eat ANYTHING as long as it isn't rotten...so usually if it comes out bad he ends up eating it all (i usually just want to throw it out, but he will stop me and insist that it's ok and he will eat it). now that DH is out of town for the week and it's just me, that's not an option. i really want to throw it out but then DH always majorly guilt-trips me for throwing out food.

    WWYD?

maybe i should move to this to Bitching Post. did i mention i hate cooking?? this is why we go out to eat so much, it's just soo much easier and less disappointing!! i feel like such a rotten mom though, i'm a SAHM and can't cook. bleh.

It happens to me all the time. I tend to throw things out

but dh will usually eat it, unless it's burned.

freeze it for DH to eat when he's home - if you really think he won't mind.

    Dude, throw it out!
What if the chicken is tough and chewy because it's gone bad? You wouldn't want to subject yourself to FOOD POISONING, now would you?

If anyone ever needs enabling to do something that you'd feel guilty about, come find me.

Dump it! I've been known to tell everyone, "this is nasty, don't even eat it" at the dinner table. If it's gross, it's gross. I don't want to waste calories on food that doesn't even taste good.

If it doesn't taste good, I'll throw it out. Eating should be enjoyable!

Unless it's truly awful, we'll usually eat it that night, but then not save the leftovers.

Overall though, I tend to agree with pp...who wants to waste the calories on cruddy food when there are so many yummy options out there?!?

That's my though too, you only get so many calories per day so use them wisely!

My mom would definitely eat anything she cooked to avoid waste. But to me, that seems like the "clean your plate" mentality which is not really compatible with eating for a proper mix of balanced nutrition and pleasure.
