    Default Favorite picnic foods

The weather is finally warming up here and we're trying to squeeze in as much outside time as we can get. DS (who doesn't generally eat much) seems to eat well if I let him eat outside so I'm looking for favorite picnic foods to give us some variety. TIA

We like sandwiches and fruit, too. Also, cheese and crackers, sometimes cookies or a bar. I try not to bring anything that requires utensils--we eat the fruit with toothpicks.

edamame (dora packs from target for convenience)
    steamed carrot sticks
    hard boiled eggs
    grapes
    cheese cubes
    cucumber sticks
    chicken chunks/strips

Love putting stuff in the Laptop Lunch, then whatever is left can be consolidated into one container for them to munch on during the ride home.

We're trying to use up our pantry stash before our move, and I made a big batch of (whole wheat) pasta salad for the kids last week. Easy one dish meal that works for lunch or a quick dinner for them (they are squeezing in every bit of outdoor time they can at night w/ the neighbor kids lately). And a thousand variations that you can do. I made enough that they could use it for multiple meals.

I use different cheeses, veggies, etc. for variety. You can pretty much hit every food group.

    PB sandwiches
    Cheese and crackers
    Fruit
    Cereal Bars

DD is super picky, so these are basically the only things she eats for lunch anyway.

We usually do pb&j also (or Trader Joe's Sunflower Seed Butter & Jelly sandwiches). Mainly because it is easy, and does not need to be kept cool. Ice water in their own reusable cups. Whatever crunchy food I have in the house (chips, carrots/hummus, pretzels).

Eating outside is a good opportunity to eat messy food. Like muffins, Gogurt sticks, etc. I do not typically bring things that need utensils though.

I always try to pack wipes, and bring a bag for our trash so that it is easy to walk it to the can.
