I found it to be oddly disturbing but funny. Nicholas Cage was great in it, as was the girl who plays his daughter.

I am intrigued by this movie, but I've heard it's super-violent, and I really hate violent movies. Even goofy violence.

It was violent. I had to close my eyes a few times. It was definitely a strange kind of humor. it's one of those movies where you wonder "who the heck thought of that?"
