Default 8 mo still not producing tears?

My 8 mo is still not producing tears! Thoughts?
I mentioned it at his 6 mo checkup and at a 7mo sickness visit. Pedi looked and said they look symmetric and fine.
One eye does show up pretty "lazy" in pics.

He has had a cold, and just yesterday developed irritated-looking eyes and some gook in one. Is this related? Allergies?

I'm not sure if these are 2 separate issues or 1.

    Thoughts?

Are his tear ducts blocked?? You can gentley massage them to try to unblock them. Also put warm compresses on them.

How can you tell if they are?

ETA--Ok, just googled a bit, and now I am worried that if they are blocked, his eyes could be infected rather than experiencing allergies.
    Help?

Most babies with blocked tear ducts that I have seen have goopy discharge in their eyes.

    I found this.

I would try massaging the tear ducts to try to work out the blockage. If you think there is an infection it probably should be looked at by a doctor.

Our baby had blocked tear ducks and her eyes were leaking mucos which subsequently dried, making her eye lids stick together. It is pretty gross when it happens, so hard to miss. HTH
