We love, love the Junie B Jones series. There is a kindergarten series and a first grade set. They are chapter books so we read a chapter or 2 a night. My dh and I enjoy reading them as much as our daughter does. They are very funny. I'm surprised to hear someone think Junie B is a brat. I don't think she is at all. I think she is a very typical lively 5/6 year old girl. She does things like cutting the dog's hair when she decided she wanted to be a "beauty shop girl" when she grows up, not wanting to give Valentine's Day cards to kids she doesn't like, running in and waking up her baby brother, etc. She reminds me so much of my dd. When Junie B does something in the book she shouldn't my dd and I talk about it and use it as a teaching tool.

We also like Fancy Nancy and are just starting to read the Magic Treehouse books (although my dd thought these seemed scary when she was 5, she's 6 now) as well as the Ramona Quimby books.
