    Default My itchy DD

My DD (4yo) has been suffering from genital itching for a few weeks now. I have changed detergent and soap, soaked her in baking soda baths, stopped using any soap on her private parts and bought new underwear that I washed in hypoallergenic detergent. She is still itching. Upon visual inspection, I see no abnormalities. No redness, no discharge. Anyone have any experience with this? I want to exhaust all of the possibilities at home before taking her to the doctor. Our neighbor is a ped PA and the changes that I listed above were suggested by him. Anything I'm missing?

Do you think I would notice any physical changes with yeast? Can I buy a regular yeast treatment and use it externally?

I don't know that you'd see a change. I've had yeast infections that were not obvious. I would never give my DD an adult treatment at 4 yo.

    Take her to a doc?

It could definitely be yeast. I'd take her to the pediatrician.

But yes, you can use monistat, the cream version. It's a bit hard to find just the tube without all the pre-filled applicators, etc. You don't use it internally, just externally.
My toddler had it when she was still in diapers, so I just used Monistat instead of diaper ointment for awhile as the pediatrician recommended.

Thanks, Tanya. I have a call in to the ped.

My daughter is still in pull ups at night so that could definitely be the culprit.
