I have an OB appointment at 22 1/2 weeks, but it's just a check up, not a GD test. A coworker said they are doing hers at 23. Am wondering if I should call and see if I can do the test while I am there, or if it's OK to wait another 4 weeks?

Usually 26-28 weeks, unless you have a history of problems. My friend who usually fails her 1 hour test had to take one at 22 or 23 weeks.
With DD1 my GD test was at 28 weeks. We're doing the test at 24 weeks this time because of my "aggressive weight gain" (10lbs in 4 weeks). Whatever to my doctor, but for you, waiting 4 weeks should probably be fine!

Liz, my first pregnancy I gained 11 lbs in 4 weeks (between 18-22). Didn't have GD, just a craving for pizza!!
Thanks for the info. Looks like I will be fine to go 4 weeks after the regular check up.

My OB tested me at 18 weeks, but I was 44 so at higher risk for GD. And good thing too, bc I was already having trouble controlling my blood sugar even that early in the pregnancy.

some clinics do two of them, one at about 23 weeks and another at 28-30 weeks. With both of my pregnancies we only had one between 28-30 weeks.
With both pregnancies in the last month of the first trimester I gained 10lbs; that was the most weight I gained in a 4 week time period. With DD1 I gained 37lbs (so about a 1lb a week; which my NP with DD1 said was fine), and then with DD2 since I weighed more when I got pregnant (hadn't lost all of the weight from the pregnancy we lost the previous April) I gained somewhere right around 25lbs.
I didn't have GD with either pregnancy.
