I have had luck with pure white vinegar before. The calcifications just melt right off. You have to find a way to let the vinegar sit on the surface, though, for a little while.

kaboom in the spray can will get anything off but I agree with Lisa. I would spray vinegar every day and it should start working

Good ole elbow grease (with a soft nylon sponge) should do the trick.
In terms of maintenance, to reduce the in-btw cleanings, can also leave a squeegee in the shower and make sure you use it after finishing.Sonny
