Default UPDATE: #5 Help: who has the Newfie avatar?

We may be getting a newfie!!!! I am so excited but if we get one it would be a boy and I have never had a male dog. I know about the temperment, the exercise needs, hip issues etc but just how much care does the coat need? How much food, etc? How many hours a week will I realistically be spending on the care? We go tomorrow to look at the puppies!!!!!!
    Thanks,
    Shannon

I think it's Trales. Or at least hers looks like a Newfie to me.

Please tell us all about it. We want a newfie too! But I declared no new babies and new puppies in the same year so we are waiting awhile.

I'm so jealous! A Newfie is my dream dog, but dh thinks the hair would push me over the edge. We got an English Mastiff instead.

    Make sure you post pictures.

We chose (actually DS chose) a brown male. He is so cute and I am already in love. We won;t be able to get him until the house is finished in Oct but they breeders will start the training and we can come visit. THe hair shouldn't be too bad. They just blow dry outside. I wish it were Oct!
    Thanks,

Keep the belly and legs trimmed short in the florida heat and he will be a happy dog. They love to swim and have a sneaky habit of finding water and neighbors pools.

They are smart, sweet and a little mischievious.
