Default Headed to Miami/Ft. Lauderdale next week...any suggestions?

We are flying to Ft. Lauderdale to visit friends next week. We'll be staying for a week. Our friends don't have young kids, so I thought I'd ask for ideas of what to do in the area with an 11 year old and a 2.5 year old. We are definitely doing the Everglades tour since DS2 has a genuine affection for alligators for some odd reason.

    Thanks!

I don't remember how far it is from Ft. Lauderdale, but we took my older DD to Butterfly World when she was 3 and she LOVED it!

where exactly (what city) will you be staying? Miami and Ft. Lauderdale are not super close, and you don't want to spend hours in the car every day.

I live in Ft Lauderdale, there is really a lot to do here. In Miami, there is the zoo, Seaquarium, Children's Museum. In Ft Lauderdale (and surrounding), there is Wannado City, Everglades tours, Butterfly World, Flamingo Gardens.

Of course, you can always go to the beach! DS adores the beach, and we rarely go...silly, I know.

We did the science museum last winter, and it was a big hit, even with DD less than 2 years old. There were plenty of fun things to see and do for older kids too. It was great!
