Default road trip advice for 1 year old

our DD is just turning one, and we are planning a summer road trip. We recently took a trip that was about 3 hrs long, and she slept part of the way but screamed the rest of the way, wanting to be out of the seat. Tried music, food, etc to no avail. As she is a bit on the small side (<20 lbs) she is still rear facing. Want to know what parents advise as far as things to keep a kid interested OTHER than TV on a long road trip? Any advice? We are planning on taking a longer trip (~5 hrs) later this summer and want to keep her occupied and interested.

We have taken several roadtrips with dd and find that it is much more pleasant for all involved of we spend some time in the back with her. She is still rf and we don't have a DVD player -- we also make many more stops than we normally would if it were just the two of us. Have a great trip-- hth!
