    Default My CDs STINK!

Ugh! This is driving me nuts!

We have major stink here. We use CPF's with PUL covers during the day and FB at night.

In doing some research I discovered that the detergent I was using (Kirkland environmentally friendly) is not good for CDs. Since then I bought TJ's detergent, which was rated highly.

I just don't know where to start. Do I have build up? Do I need to strip? Am I not using enough detergent? Is it the washing machine? (previous owners left the machine pretty gross).

Recently the dipes would smell fine when I took them out, but then got stinky when DS peed in them.

    HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds to me like you have buildup, did you strip after switching detergents. Do you have hard water? When DS was born we had hard water so I added a bit of Calgon to the wash, also I stripped with Dawn, but I recently tried R&L and I liked it better.

I use Kirkland powder, and have had good luck with:

1- Taking all microfiber inserts out of rotation and into the trash can
    2- Using more detergent

My kids are only in diapers at night now, and we use FB with prefolds as the stuffing - no smell issues since we made those 2 changes. Good luck!

Thank you to both of you. I just ordered some RLR and will try stripping the PFs with that. In the meantime, I'll use Dawn on the FB and see what happens!

Ooh! I am going to have to try some Dawn on our FuzziBunz. I'd like to try those at night with DD2, when did you start with your DS2?
