Default Help me figure out a MEDUSA Halloween costume!!

My daughter wants to be Medusa for Halloween this year. (She
decided this after reading the Percy Jackson books.)

How in the world do I make a Medusa head-piece?

There's a cool one in chasing fireflies for $19.00, I was just looking at it a couple hours ago

This is a cool headpiece but it only comes with the adult costume

I was Medusa as a kid!

My Mom bought a bunch of small cheap plastic snakes (think dollar store, but this was before dollar stores were around). You want a big sack of them, 20is good, 100 is better.

She wired them into my hair with thin wire, like the stuff you hang pictures with. I had a head full of snakes.

Other than that, I think I just wore a black robe, although I think a grecian kinds white toga would be more appropriate.

Still, it was the most awesome costume evah!

Two of my friends have been Medusa and they both pinned a lot of snakes in their hair. If your DD has long hair, maybe you could put her hair up into several pony tails all over her head. That way you have more "bases" to pin snakes to--and pony tails are kind of "snake-like" hair if you think about it.

    Great idea, Jo!

DD had suggested wearing a baseball hat and then gluing the snakes to the baseball
    hat.
