We're going to Great Wolf Lodge for Thanksgiving (to avoid the ILs), so we'll be having their buffet.

DH does all the cooking and we have hosted all the holidays at our house since 8+ years ago when we first bought our home. We tend to have anywhere from 15-20 people. He always makes:

    - Turkey
    - Prime Rib Roast (YUMMY!)
    - Chinese sticky rice stuffing (hard to explain, but it's got the Chinese version of sausage in it, mushrooms, green onions, and it's super good)
    - traditional stuffing (his grandma's recipe with bacon grease as the key binding agent!)
    - baked beans
    - sweet potatoes (without the marshmallows though, as we don't like them)
    - mashed potatoes and gravy (made from scratch!)
    - braised greens

One of the aunts who loves to bake will bring homemade desserts. One set of the grandparents will bring sushi appetizers (I know, I thought it was a weird thing, too, but it's a nice light appetizer before the main course!).

MIL hosts and the menu never changes:

    - Turkey
    - stuffing ("regular" and mushroom)
    - mashed potatoes
    - candied yams (from a can but really yummy)
    - steamed green beans
    - fresh cranberry sauce (made by me b/c in years past she had canned)
    - MIL makes some sort of cranberry compote thing

    dessert is a pie fest:
    - pecan
    - pumpkin
    - apple
    - mince meat (no one eats it, not sure why they get this!)

I think I need to make that tres leches cake for my holiday party!

That stuffing recipe sounds devine too.

Here you go ... for Alien_host too!

    Chocolate Chunk Bread Pudding

    Grease a 2 - 2 1/2 quart baking dish. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

1 small loaf of quality white bread (e.g. Orowheat or Pepperidge Farm)
    2 1/2 cups of Half & Half
1 1/2 cups of sugar (plus 2 tablespoons to sprinkle on top toward the end of baking)
    7 eggs
3 tablespoons of Brandy (optional, I never use it)
    2 teaspoons of Vanilla Extract
1 12 ounce package of chocolate chunks

Beat eggs, sugar, Half & Half, Brandy and Vanilla Extract together. Pour over bread crumpled in a large bowl. Mix with spatula carefully until bread is wet and covered. Let soak for 15 minutes. Fold in 12 ounce bag of chocolate chunks and pour into the greased casserole. Bake for a 1/2 hour, remove from heat for a second to sprinkle additional 2 tablespoons of sugar over it. Continue baking for an additional 20-25 minutes or until puffed and golden. Serve warm in a puddle of heavy whipping cream. Enjoy!
