Nanny background checks

I posted the following in another forum. I was really disappointed with the info in the Baby Bargains book on this topic, it didn't help at all.

I tried to use the two websites in the Babybargains book. One is set up for employers to have employee candidates pay and order their own background checks (mybackgroundcheck.com) and the other, choicetrust.com, never tells prices or anything, in fact they just ask for my info, not the nanny's. Am I missing something? I just want a criminal record check--I have already done the sex offender check. When I go ussearch.com, they say there are too many records with name. When I try some other sites, they don't find her--for instance, the age is wrong, etc. I don't want to type her social security # into some random site. Isn't there an easy-to-use, reputable site that can get this info for me?

Thanks for your comments and suggestions on that. Agreed---we need to update and expand that area with more choices.

Intellius is $50 for a criminal background check. These sites enable you to do a basic check. We will also discuss how to find someone's driving record (in case your nanny will be driving your child about town). That involves a big more legroom, contacting your local DMV.
