Default Forum for special needs kids and parents

I think it would be great to have a forum for parents to post questions and share stories about their special needs kids. I use the forum on mothering.com right now but would love to have a forum on here to discuss these kind of issues with other parents.

I can really agree with this. I think special needs and children with long term medical issues would be helpful. Things just tend to get buried in the lounge and I can see a seperate forum as a great place to find extra info and support.

This sounds like a great idea to me! Where do I vote?

Excellent idea. DS has severe speech delay and I'm always trying to search for more info on his situation.

I agree that a special needs forum would be a great addition to this board I have three autistic children. I don't post often because I do not have a lot of time. It would be so much easier to go to one forum to see if there is anyone who needs help. It wouldn't just have to be for parents with questions. It could also be a place where we could celebrate our childrens sucesses. So many times I find on the board where parents are complaining about the speed of their childrens progress (potty training etc) when there are parents like myself who would give their eye teeth to have some sucess ~ 7 yr old who still doesn't go to the bathroom unless told, and a 5 & 3 yr old who are no where near being potty trained so we are still living in the world of diapers/pull-ups).

I think that's a great idea since posts do get buried in the Lounge pretty quickly.

Thanks for the suggestion and to those who wrote in support of the idea! We'll be adding a forum soon.
