    Default Is Closetmaid junk?

We are re doing our master closet (which is huge) with shelving. I saw Closetmaid stuff at Home Depot and it looks OK but something is telling me it's cheap. Any experience with this brand?

It's what the builders have installed in our last two houses and it's been fine and held up fine.

That's what our builders installed too. 2 years ago for DS' room we got one done by California closets - pricey but soooo good. In the guest bedroom we ordered on from Storables - a DIY set and that looks good too. So order of niceness IMO would be:
    1. California Closets (pricey)
    2. Storables (DIY. Not sure how it compares to Elfa or even closetmaid)
    3. Closetmaid (cheap, works, but not the best IMO)

Our Closetmaid stuff has held up great for the past 5 years.

We used the Elfa design to plan our closets, but bought everything (Closetmaid brand) for half the price at Home Depot.

We used Elfa (aka Container Store) to design our closets and most of the stuff is from there, and we have some ClosetMaid too. The ClosetMaid stuff is fine if it's just MDF boards, rods, etc. Anything that is a "feature" (rolling carts, for example) or wirebased is relatively junky.

Love Elfa! Wait till their 20% sale at Container Store. My parents bought some basic wire stuff for my closet from Target or True Value in 1993 and it's still working. No pull out dwarers or anything, but it's held up well.

Thanks all. I am going to use Elfa design service for sure. Maybe we can hold out for the sale.

How often is Elfa on sale? It just was 2 weeks ago. BTW, we love our closetmaid shelf-track system from 7 years ago.

I would say a few times a year. The February sale was 30% off IIRC.

If you have a Costco membership, they also have some closet design services.
