Default How to use vinegar in washing?

I have read a few threads recently on using vinegar in washing. I think I understand to put it in where the fabric softener goes. My machine is top loading. But, how much do I use? Is there things I should use it on?

I use about 1/2 cup. I think it helps get the detergent residue out.

Exactly! I use about 1/2 cup too. I have a front loading machine so I put it where the fabric softener goes. I love using vinegar. I always use it on bed linen and towels. Sort of "disinfects" things. I also use it on my cloth diapers.

I only use about 1/4 c in the rinse because any more than that & I can detect a whiff of vinegar odor after the clothes have dried, yuck! I put the vinegar in a Downy ball; filled to the lowest level. Vinegar is especially helpful in cutting soap residue if you are using "Duggar laundry soap" as a substitute for detergent.
