Sanibel Island is GORGEOUS and a great place to collect shells.

Pump it Up has open gyms- a life saver.
If the weather is good- Naples for the huge water park there.
Also a few good indoor kiddie gyms- even my big kid likes them.
Naples has a nice but small zoo.
Casula nature preserve and planitarium.
Imaginarium.
A two hour trip but worth it- wanna do city. Perhaps not for the 2 year old but they can tag along.

Thanks for the great ideas!
I second the Sanibel recommendation. Also, about 45 mins - 1 hour south will put you in the Naples/Marco Island area. Naples has a super cute downtown (5th Avenue) with restaurants and shops. Marco Island has gorgeous beaches...we travel there twice a year (in-laws live there) and love watching the sunset with dinner on the beach! Have fun!
