    Default Home carpet cleaner

I have a home carpet cleaner and want to clean out bonus room rug, but dont want to use chemicals (BBB scared me away from that). Will it still be effective enough to just put water in there and just use plain hot water? I guess I would just be "steam" cleaning that way, I just dont know if that would work as well with a home system rather than a professional.

Has anyone ever done carpet cleaning this way?

    Thanks

I have cleaned this way many times. Plenty of dirt comes out, so I think they are cleaner than before I did it, anyway. I usually pretreat any spots and then use the hottest water I can. For area rugs, I take them outside on the driveway and hose them off first, then extract the water with the cleaner (not really feasible this time of year, though).
