    Default Warm Carrier Covers

Any feedback on monkey pockets or catbird covers? I will be in cold weather beginning Jan and would like to have some sort of warm cover. I will most likely be using my Ergo. I already have a peekaru vest, but think I might need one more layer. Thanks!

I have the Monkey Pocket, and really like it. Mine is one layer of wool, but there are other options, like fleece, or having it linned. I chose the monkey pocket, because you can use it with different types of carriers (I think you can only use the catbird with ssc or mei tai, while the monkey pocket can be used with ring slings, pouches, and wraps too).

ERGO makes a carrier cover for the ERGO so that would be another option. The Catbird Baby ones are another option I like. People do use them with wraps sometimes! Haven't tried Monkey Pockets, but have heard good things about them. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

Babysteals just had the Kowalli on their site earlier in the week. I ordered one for my DD to use with her son. She uses the Beco Butterfly II carrier. The Kowalli arrived today and it looks wonderful! It's just a large "tube" made of weather resistant fleece. It has arm holes so you can wear it higher or lower on your body, or wear a coat and use that over the coat for your baby. It's tightens around you and baby with one hand and is said to be "dad friendly" as well. Here's a link to their site: http://www.kowalli.com/

Thanks, I finally realized that since I will be wearing my peekaru, that I can't really use one of the carrier covers at the same time. If I am picturing everything correctly, the place where the monkey pocket/catbird attaches to my ergo strap will be covered by the peekaru. Anyhow, I am just going to stick with the peekaru for now and see how things progress. If it gets really cold, I just might have to pick up a baby wearing jacket!
