Default Puppets for ME to use to play with my 5 month old baby girl

My little girl really likes puppets. I have a finger puppet and a hand one. The finger one is a bird. The hand one is a lion with big eyes.

I'd like to get a few more for Christmas for her since she loves them so.

Any recommendations for good ones? She seems drawn to the big eyes and clear face parts on the lion one we have. Subtlety will probably be lost on her.

    Thanks!

"Someday, I am going to go to bed without toys on the floor and sippys in my sink. Things will stay where I put them and I can have nice, fragile items on display. But when I do, I will look around with a wistfullness in my heart and miss the days where vibrant imaginations ran wild and there was evidence of life happening around me all the time!"

Anything by Folkmanis rocks in our book.

DD LOVES puppets and "snaily" is loved more than any other toy in the house.

Before you think... really?!?! a snail?!?! What kinda wierdo buys a snail puppet.... must tell you that the snail fits down your arm. You can retract in and out of it's shell. The mouth opens wide and you can use it to really mimic facial expressions or pick up objects or nibble on your DC. SHE LOVES it!!

I want this Ostrich puppet for similar reasons!

We are the house o puppets. We started out with small finger puppets to entertain DD1 with - Manhattan Toys (good), IKEA(ok), Restoration Hardware (Nice), Bla Bla (lovely). DD1 liked them a lot. But then our lives changed when someone gifted us a Folkmanis hand puppet. And someone else another. Well, by 1, they were DDs favorite toys. By the time she could talk (in sentences by 18 months), she was naming the puppets she wanted. By then, her preference had switched to Folkmanis finger puppets which are larger than regular finger puppets - squirrel, raccoon, skunk, etc. Like this: http://www.amazon.com/Folkmanis-2668...565657&sr=8-12 We now have about 12 large Folkmanis puppets and about 20 finger puppets. She's asked Santa for 2 finger puppets this year that she didn't have (found them on amazon!). One of her happiest field trips was a visit to the Folkmanis puppet warehouse in CA!

    So get Folkmanis!

DD2, who is just 7 months, is not so into her big sisters puppets, but she looooves the puppet books we have - where the entire book is shaped like a glove. You might want to try those. ETA: here's a link:

We took DD to the local toy store's Folkmanis stand when she was about that age, and this got the biggest reaction:

It has a tail to grab, easier for us to use than many puppets, and you can put a finger in each of the arms and the rest of your hand in the face to really bring it to life.

We still have it DD2 loved it as well, and we will keep it in the memory box.

We've had others since then, but this is and was by far the favorite (though the big, bad wolf we got at DH's work "white elephant" gift exchange was a close second, but only for older kids who aren't scared of dogs. I still want to use it to film Little Red Riding Hood with the girls.)

This was my DD's first Folkmanis puppet too! Our gateway drug, LOL. She loved it till about 18 months and then "moved on."
