You-know-what is due right around NYE. Woohoo. And DH actually has something planned. So I'm thinking about cycling for this round to avoid it. I know that I can take my current ring out on the usual day and insert a new one immediately, but that will also change my cycle by 1 week. Can I leave the ring in for an extra week and then insert the new one when I take the old one out? That means the ring would be in place for 4 weeks instead of 3, and I would start a new ring immediately. I thought I have read that the ring is effective for up to 4 weeks...?

Yes, you can leave the ring in for 4 weeks. Actually the ring is made to have enough medication for 32 days. It's made this way so that there is some built in wiggle room if someone forgets to take it out.
