Non-stimulant medication for adult ADD?

Any recommendations for non-stimulant medications for adult ADD? I would like to have some suggestions when I go to my doctor later this week. The stimulants are out because I have high blood pressure. I'm grasping at straws here trying to find something else. I'm already working with non-medication management strategies. Thanks.

I think the primary ones are Strattera and Intuniv.

I tried Straterra and my BP skyrocketed. I'll ask her about intuniv though. All the literature I have found about this seems to indicate that it is only approved for children and is used in conjunction with stimulant medications. Have you heard anything different or can point me in the direction of some other information I can bring with me to my appointment?

I'm seeing a psychiatrist so...I hope she's an ADD specialist but I don't really know. Her practice includes both children and adults though.

Intuiv is time-released guanfacine. You can use generic guanfacine too (aka Tenex). Guanfacine was originally a bp medication, so this could be a good option for you.

My husband has been on Strattera for a few years now and is happy with it. He does experience some mild side effects though.

Would you be open to trying acupuncture? I did it after I got sick of taking the meds (before I was pregnant) and it was amazing. So relaxing, and it was like I could just feel the difference the minute my session was over. Some insurances will pay a bit for it too.
