Default "homemade" or etsy moby style wrap

Has anyone made their own moby-style wrap, or bought one from etsy? There are multiple ADORABLE fabrics on etsy, though most of them are double (or more) the cost of the original one. I like the idea of the pretty patterns, though I feel like I need to wait and find out the gender of our child. I WISH I could just buy what I like and match it to my own outfits like someone else suggested, but I think I would feel too weird wearing my son in a pink wrap.

I really like some of loveyduds patterns - the 2nd link - but $50?? I know for a carrier that is not outrageous, and I do like the idea of supporting a SAHM. I'm just worried about buying something that I can't try out first and can't return if I hate it. Also, I'm worried about "knock-offs" potentially not being safe.

I've made my own moby style wraps, and it really is as easy as cutting fabric, with no sewing required. Your DIY version will be as safe as the real moby.
