Question Too tall for a pack-n-play. Now what?

DD still sleeps in her crib. She has plenty of room. We are not having another baby, so I see no reason to move her. I like her in her crib! She has never even tried to climb out...yet.

So here is my question. Where do I put her on vacation? Sleeping with us is NOT an option. We co-slept for 9 months, and I didn't sleep. We always put her in a pack-n-play. Now that she is 40 inches tall, she just doesn't fit! Is there something else? Renting a full size crib is pricey and I hate doing it every time. Do they make a bigger travel crib? I want her to still sleep in her crib when we get home.

    TIA

Would this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER work for just our next trip? She will be 40 in. It is 43. That is bigger than her pack n play. What do you guys think? It is $60 less than renting a crib.

We got this: http://www.amazon.com/KidCo-PeaPod-P...8525595&sr=1-4 for our then 6-month old and love it. We travel a fair amount for work and to visit family (mostly by plane) and have used it for six trips and around 15 nights so far and love it. It's lightweight and compact. They have bigger ones, too, if you want one for a larger kid.

It's designed to have the inflatable mattress slipped into this little pocket that goes under the tent, and then the baby is supposed to sleep on the nylon tent floor. We didn't like that so we just took a crib sheet, pinned one side so it fit on the mattress, and put the mattress in the tent so the baby could sleep on the sheet. Works perfectly.

ETA: Just reread the OP, and yeah, maybe you would want the larger size: http://www.amazon.com/Kidco-PeaPod-I...8526051&sr=8-1. They have a bunch of different colors, so just look around for the one you like best. Also, I'll add that a lot of people from reviews seem to have trouble folding these. Watch an instruction video on youtube if it doesn't make sense! I couldn't figure it out at first but it's actually super easy, just not intuitive.

My son slept in his pack and play until he started climbing out of it at 25 months.

After that, I got him a kids sleeping bag and he sleeps in that.

we travel alot and DD always slept in her pack n play. when she outgrew it (around 2 1/2), we bought the aerobed kids bed.

I think we paid only around $50 for it. can't remember where we got it. DD was still in her crib at home and did fine on the floor with the aerobed. After the 3rd or 4th weekend trip with the aeorbed she asked to sleep in the aerobed at home and said she was too big for her crib. i wasn't ready to give up on the crib, and she transitioned easily back to the crib.

We used the Bjorn Travel Crib once DD got too big for the PnP....best money we spent in a long time. There are several threads about this and a lot of BBBers love them. They are pricey but they hold their value. If you can wait until Kohls has another 30% sale that's the best place I know of to order from.

interesting - we have the same problem. DS is big. he's almost 2. and he's not climbing (knock wood), but he does not fit comfortably in a pnp. i considered the peapod, but i don't think it would work b/c he tends to be very skittish of new things. i think the very idea of trying to get him to sleep in a tent would be more than i'm willing to take on

so...is the bjorn significantly bigger than the pnp? if so, i would splurge for our upcoming trip b/c i'm already worrying about what to do...

Yes the Bjorn has a significantly larger sleeping surface than a PnP. My DD1 is 39" tall and still is quite happy in it. The sides are slightly sloped in so climbing out would be more difficult than a typical PnP.
