We have that IKEA sun light fixture in DS1's room. It does not work well as the only lighting in the room. It casts a very yellow glow (for obvious reasons!).

We got a projector from the University of Maryland Surplus store for ~$15. Check if your local university has something similar.
Another idea for the mural is to look on Etsy and see if any of the vinyl wall decal vendors have something that is similar. Some of them are pricey but there is a pretty big range.

We have begun!
DH bought out the Home Depot paint and lumbar depts., and we're ready to roll. Jason is losing his mind with excitement-lol. "My store!!! Is it time to make my store?!?!?"
I have the room mostly cleared out- just have to remove switchplates, fixtures, etc.
I bought a bunch of red and green bins, but still want to get a few more.
I decided to try the brick, but I'm going to paint it on. That way, if I hate it, I can just roll over it.
We've got Behr Sapphireberry, Tart Apple, Poinsettia, and Ultra Pure White. We've got glaze and sea sponges and cheesecloth. Now all we need is a little elbow grease!

We're making some progress (mostly thanks to Grandma)! We painted the walls, and we're almost done with the trim. The rainbow is done, the sun light is up (and ITA that it is very dim and yellow, but cute) and we got some fun fabric for the awning. LOVE the Sapphireberry paint- it's the perfect color for a sky, and it makes the whole room very cheery and light.
There have been some minor hiccups- the rainbow takes up so much space that I can't do the tree. The bricks were a total PITB. It was really hard to find tape, and after driving all over to get it, taking hours to apply it just right, and painting, it peeled huge chunks off the wall when we removed it. Luckily, we were able to patch it, and now you can't even see it. If you ever consider painting a brick mural though, don't do it! LOL
Overall though, I'm thrilled with how it's coming out, and I can't wait to see it all pulled together.

Looks great!
"Someday, I am going to go to bed without toys on the floor and sippys in my sink. Things will stay where I put them and I can have nice, fragile items on display. But when I do, I will look around with a wistfullness in my heart and miss the days where vibrant imaginations ran wild and there was evidence of life happening around me all the time!"
I love it! The murals look awesome.
And where did you get the sun light fixture?
Thanks!
The light is from Ikea- only $20!
