    I'd go with boiling water with cinnamon and some cloves and set out a few bowls of vinegar, which I'd take up prior to the playdate. The label on my bottle recommends setting out bowls of vinegar to rid your home of odors. The water & spices you can leave simmering on your stove as long as you like, just remember to keep adding water as needed. My parents used to simmer spices on top of their wood stove in the winter & it made the whole house smell good.
