Excluvisely bf both kids and AF came back at 6 weeks with DS1 and 5 weeks with DS2! NOT FAIR! But I think I must take after my grandma who also breastfed and ended up having her first two kids 10 months apart!!!!! Yikes!

7 months and still waiting
FWIW - i have read that if you still night nurse (I cosleep) this impacts the return of your period greatly.

On the day or the day after I went back to work (with both boys) which was about 12 weeks pp. I exclusively nursed for 6-8 months with them. I was NOT excited, going back to work was hard enough!

That's really interesting and resonates with my experience. DD1 was STTN by 4-5 months consistently (but isn't at 5 yrs, grr) and my period returned at 6 months. DD2 still night nurses at 13 months and AF is still not back although I suspect it will be back soon.

With DD1 I got it back at 3 months, she continued to night feed until right before she was fully weaned at 4 months old. I was on the mini pill too.
With DD2 I got it back at 4 months old. I weaned her when she was 3 months old. She started STTN at 7 weeks old (because she didn't sleep well during the day) and I was on the mini pill for three months prior to getting it back; I was off it by the time I got my period back. I did still get up to pump though at 2 am or so if I was a little sore those first couple of weeks she was STTN so maybe that helped.
I also think it's hereditary, my mom breast fed two kids till at least 12 months and one until 7 months and she got her period back at 3 months each time. She did say that we all STTN though by 3 months old too.Last edited by AnnieW625; 06-03-2011 at 06:15 PM.
