Both kids were EBF (and coslept) and with both it returned at 3 months. My supply started to go down slowly after that.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like there really is a wide range, even for different kids and the same Mom. Lots of factors at play.... co-sleeping, genetics, luck.
We coslept until around 5-6 months, he sleeps well through the night now. I'll just have to wait and see what nature has in mind.
Thanks again.
My first AF came in when DS was around 7-8 months, I EBFed, so when DS started getting into solids pretty much.
DS is 13 months now and my AFs are there, but very irregular and infrequent. I cannot say I can pinpoint when my next one will be. I still BF through the night, mornings and evenings, but DS takes lots of solids now.

This past week! Argh! DS2 is only 7 weeks old and I'm EBF! I'm so annoyed. I did just start the mini-pill, so maybe what I'm experiencing is just spotting? It's hard to tell the difference after not having a period for so long!

Most birth control pills use synthetic estrogen and progestin.
The mini pill only has progestin:

At about 6 mo PP (too soon for me) even though I EBF/pumped and DS was exclusively BM fed.
I've heard this too, but I'm also a cosleeper (and still night nursing occasionally at 2 years PP) and AF still came back before 2 months PP!
I've also heard that if you are healthier it comes back sooner. And then I've heard other people say that women who get back AF sooner are less healthy and possibly lacking in nutrients. To me this doesn't make sense since your body would most likely only want to create a baby in ideal conditions-- like how women who are underweight stop ovulating and having periods till they gain more body fat.
I definately think it can be a hereditary thing though.
Interesting thread. DD is 5mo and AF has not yet returned. She still sleep in the room with us, but does not nurse every night. After reading this thread I am even less ready to move her into her own room at night. It has been nice to have AF away.
